The countdown has begun : in less than 1000 days, Renault will become the first automotive manufacturer to let you choose your electric car from an actual production model range. Less than 1000 days to drive electric, less than 10 days to preview the cars. It’s a major event: the Frankfurt motor show is getting ready to welcome Renault’s four electric concept cars which are debutants of the all new Renault Z.E. range. Renault Z.E. will soon be available to everyone, Renault has the industrial strength to bring these cars to market quickly and on a large scale, and to offer them at the same price as a current diesel car. The date is set!

The first range of Renault Z.E. electric cars showcase the mobility of tomorrow : mobility that’s easier, more comfortable and whose use doesn’t impact on the environment. This is the “Zero Emission” commitment : a silent, 100% electric vehicle emitting No greenhouse gasses and no polluting emissions when driven. The prototypes on show at the Frankfurt show are the perfect illustration of the commitment and will demonstrate the details and the specific types of product for different styles of driving. The show will be an in depth preview ahead of the main launch of the first Renault Z.E. electric vehicles in 2011.
Simplicity, accessibility and respect for the environment
As well as generating no polluting emissions, simplicity and accessibility are the priorities on which Renault has based its electric vehicleselectric vehicle offers everything you’d expect from a normal car in terms to comfort, safety, and usability. Z.E. electric vehicles will be available to buy for the same price as a current diesel, and their running costs will be significantly lower. All aspects of infrastructure needs have also been taken into account . The electric revolution has begun!

Sounds a wonderful concept. Please keep me informed of availbility ddates. I am a customer of Martins of Basingstoke and own a Laguna estate. Great product, excellent service and staff courtesy. Looking forward to going electric!! Merci and regards.
Renault starts the revolution! I hope that other automotive companies will follow the same direction.

WAy to GO!! Renault!
Renault always had good market leading ideas with innovation, although they fell into stagnation over the last 25 years. At Last
Brilliant vehicles and based on sound ecological ideas. Lets just hope it’s not just a pipe dream and that you can and always will lead the market!
Can’t wait to see them on our roads in the UK!!
Beautiful, well design, green cars! Well done!
and now…
PUT THEM ON SAIL PLEEEEEEASE!
cool looking cars – but zero emissions is a bit of a funny term as the power stations will produce the emissions downstream. Question: how much CO2 is produced by a mixture of power plants per KM? That would be interesting to see! My current car is 17 years’ old and has zero emissions as it runs of vegetable oil
Time to Market:
I’ve just added 910 days to today date:29-03-2012 ????

For me it’s sound wonderfull, and I hope that in 2011 and 2012 it’s all will become reality. I shall keep my fingers crossed that everything will be succeed. Good Luck Renault !
If the Li ion battery has a capacity of 24 kWh, and an energy density of 200 Wh/kg, then the battery should weigh about 120 kg. Why not provide space for an optional second battery, weighing about the same as an average (fat) American, to double the range at the cost of a little performance?
