When world-renown sailor Ellen MacArthur is not on her boat… She might very well be close to a Renault ZE electric car! One of Renault’s longtime partners for sustainable development, Ellen McArthur visited the Renault store on the Champs-Elysées on the 10th of July. She met with a dozen members of the Renault ZE team.
Ellen MacArthur, who drives an old generation Renault electric car, told the team how much the new kind of electric vehicles they work on mean to her: “Supporting a range of cars which have made continuous improvements in all areas from the manufacturing process, inclusion of recycled materials and obviously lower carbon emissions but which are also economical makes sense to me. I am passionate about trying to encourage my team and the wider public to lead more sustainable lives which means using as few natural resources as we can to help safeguard the future of our planet.”
We couldn’t agree more! So for those of you who think the same way, remember it is now just a matter of months before we can enjoy the Renault ZE electric revolution!
Renault Z.E.’s vehicles took a quick trip to Switzerland in March. Why? To visit the Geneva Motor Show, which got invaded by clean cars! We invite you to go back, in the latest installment of the “Zero Emission Magazine”, to see what made the event’s “electric” headlines.
First, a look back at the Z.E. craze. Get up close with Renault’s electric vehicles as they stole the spotlight.
Then, an interview with Uwe Hochgeschurtz, Director of Corporate Sales at Renault. He explains the role played by companies, such as Europcar or Schindler, in the success of Renault’s electric vehicles.
A new step was taken today in the distribution of Renault Z.E.’s vehicles. Europcar just pre-ordered its first 500 electric vehicles from Renault, to be made available for rental. In the meantime, Schindler selected Renault to supply its vehicle fleet, starting at the end of 2010. Start your (electric) engines!
The Renault Z.E. revolution is stronger than ever! 500 Renault electric vehicles will be delivered to Europcar’s agencies located in the largest European cities, from the 3rdquarter of 2011. Europcar has given substance to the partnership agreement signed at the recent Frankfurt International Motor Show with Renault to promote zero-emission* mobility solutions. With the addition to its fleet of the Renault Fluence Z.E. and Kangoo Z.E. models from 2011 and then of the Zoe Z.E. in 2012, Europcar will make the “zero emission” solution available to its customers. “The interaction between our network and Renault’s technology will genuinely pave the way for a major advance in mobility solutions“, stated Rafael Girona, Chief Operating Officer of Europcar Groupe.
This announcement comes right after the signature of a memorandum of understanding between Renault and Schindler, aimed at promoting zero-emission mobility*. Schindler will be part of a pilot group that will test the first Renault zero-emission vehicles by the end of this year. The test will enable Renault to better understand the upcoming customer utilization of electric fleets and to fine-tune its offering for fleet business.
Everyone has had a chance to get acquainted with the four Renault Z.E. concept cars since they were unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show and the Atelier Renault in Paris.
Things have now shifted up a gear, from the ideal to the real, with Z.E. prototypes hitting the streets of Copenhagen. Just take a look at the video footage of the Fluence Z.E. and Kangoo Express Z.E. We are now closer than ever to seeing production models…
