With the press conference over, Carlos Ghosn unveiled the four much-awaited Renault Z.E. concept cars and was clear about Renault’s “electrifying” commitment: the automaker has something for everyone, at a price that will be affordable. Electric cars will represent 10% of the automotive market by 2020.
The stage is now set for the Twizy (a fully electric two-seater scooter-car hybrid), the Zoe (the ZE flagship for two-car households), the Fluence (a family saloon due to roll out in 2011), and the Kangoo Z.E. Concept (the zero-emission version of the conventional Kangoo van, perfect for quick, easy deliveries).
A range of up to 160km and three battery-charging options: standard (6 to 8 hours), quick (20 minutes for an 80% charge) and “Quickdrop” (a three-minute stop at a rapid battery exchange station).
Just two days from now, the general public will see the future for itself!
In the meantime, stay tuned with our Renault Z.E. Twitter team or drop in to visit us on Facebook.
The appeal is apparent even at first glance: the Fluence exudes a sense of luxury and comfort. The car’s super-sleek design combines performance and refinement, set off by a spacious interior with soft blue lighting, electroluminescent headlamps, triple-zone climate control powered by roof-mounted solar cells and a maximum range of 160km. Who could resist the lap of electric luxury?
It’s our go-to getaround, the one we use every day, the one that’s just as handy for a five-minute run to the shops as it is for a two-hour road trip. The car’s design and performance reflect its image as the Fluence’s compact sibling. Zoe brings yet another breath of fresh air with the Spa Biotherm system, diffusing relaxing and energy-giving essential oils through the vents. A car that lets you stay cool in more ways than one!
For offbeat and cutting edge look no further than the
, a highly original new model, packed with pep for people whose middle name is mobility. Other drivers will be sure to get the message from those smiley-headlamp mood reflectors! Fun features aside, the
is packed with head-turning practicality: only slightly bigger than a scooter, it makes traffic and parking problems a thing of the past … and happiness a thing of the present.
A fleet of electric vehicles is easier and less costly for a company to manage: just charge the batteries overnight and the entire fleet is ready to roll first thing in the morning. And because it’s a Kangoo, the car brings all the advantages of its namesake, including the handy tailgate for easy loading and unloading. Why make work of work?
