Video – Carlos Ghosn breaks the silence in Francfort IAA
With the press conference over, Carlos Ghosn unveiled the four much-awaited Renault Z.E. concept cars and was clear about Renault’s “electrifying” commitment: the automaker has something for everyone, at a price that will be affordable. Electric cars will represent 10% of the automotive market by 2020.
The stage is now set for the Twizy (a fully electric two-seater scooter-car hybrid), the Zoe (the ZE flagship for two-car households), the Fluence (a family saloon due to roll out in 2011), and the Kangoo Z.E. Concept (the zero-emission version of the conventional Kangoo van, perfect for quick, easy deliveries).
A range of up to 160km and three battery-charging options: standard (6 to 8 hours), quick (20 minutes for an 80% charge) and “Quickdrop” (a three-minute stop at a rapid battery exchange station).
Just two days from now, the general public will see the future for itself!
In the meantime, stay tuned with our Renault Z.E. Twitter team or drop in to visit us on Facebook.

Fantastic . . . lets hope these cars can help to move electric cars up a notch. I remember going to a car show in the 70’s and seeing a Ford Cameroo powered by electric thinking that was the future but its a long time coming. Good luck Renault, i love the concept of the battery change depot, lets manufacturers can come to agreement on a standard battery package so these sorts of change centres can become common place. Brilliant (:
I’m 100% align with new automotive technologies running for CO2 emission reductions, however, say that the new electric cars will be 100% CO2 free or “Zero emissions” will be not real in the next 10 years (or more). Remember the energetic mix for EU countries; we continue producing CO2 from the electric energy production (from gas, oil and coal). Only with a big renewable energy plan (and not Nuclear like France intend to do), can achieve this Zero emissions and more important near zero environmental impact!
Very good, very timely – this car and its propulsion system will fit in VERY nicely with new developments in physics theory. Well done Renault! This’ll be one to watch and one to work with as any competant and responsible engineer and scientist should.
Sono interessato ad aprirmi una concessionaria per la vendita delle macchine elettriche. Vorrei avere notizie. Grazie
