Renault Z.E. cars for Dame Ellen MacArthur & Yann Arthus Bertrand, both crafting a better world

Last November, Ellen MacArthur picked up the keys to a brand new black Renault Kangoo Z.E. for her Foundation. It’s the logical choice for the famous sailor, who is very concerned by the protection of the environment and wants to promote green awareness among future generations. By driving a Kangoo Z.E., there’s no doubt her projects will still have wind in their sails!

Then, in December, French photographer, reporter and ecologist Yann Arthus-Bertrand took delivery of  a Renault Fluence Z.E. After trying it out for only one weekend, he was already praising the driving pleasure and the comfort of his new car. By driving a Renault electric car, Yann Arthus-Bertrand believes we can “meet our present needs without compromising the ability of future generation to meet theirs”

Renault Twizy never ceases to amaze us! Despite our electric urban two-seaters, both agile and safe, not quite yet being available in the showrooms, the lucky few who have had the chance to try it have already given their verdict: they simply love it.  Tomer Sisley, the hero of Largo Winch, was amongst the first lucky drivers. 2011 has been a historic year for us. Renault Fluence Z.E. and Renault Kangoo Z.E., the first two electric vehicles for all, were officially launched. After 3 years of work, we’re extremely proud of what’s coming up in 2012. In just a few months, the Renault Z.E. family will welcome Renault Twizy and Renault ZOE, both of them are solutions to drive the future.

From December 7th to 9th, Renault will electrify the 11th edition of LeWeb in Paris. LeWeb is a prominent event dedicated to digital innovations.

Twizy is LeWeb’s guest star!

Twizy will be available for the 3 000 visitors of the event. They will be able to customize their very own model in a jiffy, thanks to a Kinect module, and share it on Facebook. More importantly, the lucky visitors of the Renault lounge will have the opportunity to leave the digital world for a few moments to sit behind the wheels of the much-awaited electric two-seaters!

Also on the menu for these three days, the revelation by Carlos Tavares of an embedded multimedia tablet which will be provided on some Renault cars. This tablet will feature some exclusive functionalities for Z.E. drivers.

Each year, LeWeb welcomes the digital economy’s major international actors. As pioneers of the electric revolution since we will be offering a full range of 100% electric cars by 2012, we are proud to represent the automotive innovation for this new edition.

With 104 points out of a possible 168, Kangoo Z.E., Renault’s full-electric van, has been voted International Van of the Year 2012 by a jury of 22 European journalists specializing in light commercial vehicles.

It is the first time that an electric vehicle has won this prize, competing against numerous internal-combustion vans.

The jury chose Kangoo Z.E. for its zero-emission* virtues, as well as for its practical and economical qualities. Jury chairman Pieter Wieman explained: “With the Kangoo Z.E. Renault brings the electric van within the reach of the normal European van user,” he said, “thereby delivering a major contribution to environmental sustainability, one of the most important issues of the transport of goods by road nowadays.”.

The team spirit is rewarded!

When receiving the trophy, Jean-Marie Hurtiger, director of Renault’s Light Commercial Vehicle division, explained that: “this prize rewards the work of the people at Renault who have worked for several years on the Kangoo Z.E., one of Renault’s four electric vehicles.”

The International Van of the Year is the culmination if a series of prizes rewarding Kangoo Z.E. Following Van of the Year in Denmark, voted by a jury of motoring journalists, and Fleet Transport Green Commercial in Ireland, selected by the Fleet Transport Awards jury of experts, it’s the third trophy won by Kangoo Z.E. in Europe.
